The Great "Non-Event" of January 7, 2014
A CME with speeds exceeding 2400 km/sec was observed on January 7, 2014. The flaring region was right near disk center, and preliminary analysis indicated a fairly rapid arrival at Earth.
Dramatic impacts were predicted by all 8 of the forecasting groups that participated in CCMC/SWRC's Space Weather Scoreboard. However, the Kp did not rise above 3. What happened?
